I believe ladoos are every Indian kid’s favorite treat! Most of us have memories where we were not rewarded for good work with chocolate but rather with homemade happiness that came in a spherical shape. Rava ladoos are one of my favorites! They are easy to make. If you do not have any dessert at home and crave something traditional, you can whip these up in a jiffy!
What you will need:
Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
Cardamon powder | 1 pinch |
Cashew Nuts | 1 tablespoon |
Coconut | 1 cup |
Ghee | 3 tablespoons |
Pistachio | 1 tablespoon |
Raisins | 1 tablespoon |
Rava | 1 cup |
Saffron | 1 pinch |
Salt | 1 pinch |
Sugar | 3/4 cup |
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Servings: makes 10 ladoos
How to make it:
- Heat ghee in a vessel. Add saffron, raisins, chopped cashews and chopped pistachios. Saute for 1 minute.
- Add and roast the rava for about 4 minutes until it begins to give out an aroma. Stir continuously. Do not brown the rava. Transfer the rava in a bowl to cool down.
- In the same vessel, add sugar and coconut. Mix well. Once the sugar starts to melt, turn the flame off.
- Add salt, cardamom powder and the rava to the vessel. Mix well.
- Take some amount of the mixture and start rolling them into balls. Be cautious as the mixture may be hot.
- These ladoos are made with fresh coconut, so enjoy within a week of making. You can use dry coconut powder to increase the shelf life. Enjoy!
