Serradura

Serradura

A lot of Goan recipes have a Portuguese influence. Here is one such recipe. Serradura translates to saw dust. This super easy, yet super delicious, dessert is made with layers of flavored whipped cream and powdered Marie biscuits. The crushed biscuits resemble saw dust and hence the name. With the holidays coming up, this is a great make ahead dessert. Just pile it in a large trifle bowl and serve to impress.  I made a batch recently for Mayur’s office holiday party and it was definitely a crowd pleaser!

What you will need:

IngredientsQuantity
Chocolate Shavings1/2 cup
Condensed Milk175 grams
Heavy Whipping Cream8 ounces
Marie Biscuits13
Vanilla Essence 1/2 teaspoon
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 5

How to make it:

  • Whip cold heavy  whipping cream until it forms stiff peaks using a mixer.
  • To the whipped cream, add condensed milk and vanilla extract. Whip again until all the ingredients incorporate well together.
  • Add the Marie biscuits in a food processor. Pulse to make a fine powder. If you do not have Marie biscuits, use graham crackers instead.
  • Keep your serving bowls, the whipped cream and biscuit powder ready.
  • Start making layers of the biscuit powder and whipped cream in the serving bowl.
  • I topped it with chocolate shavings. Feel free to use cherries or biscuit sticks to garnish.
  • Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
