Who does not like pizza? A poor man’s food turned into a global favorite! Pizza is a perfect meal if you have friends over and do not want to spend a bunch of time in the kitchen. It is a hit among all kids! Besides, you can make it home and enjoy guilt free by controlling what you want to put on it. Here is my simple recipe for no yeast pizza dough made with whole wheat atta.
What you will need:
Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
Baking Powder | 3/4 teaspoon |
Baking Soda | 3/4 teaspoon |
Dry Italian Herbs (optional) | 1 tablespoon |
Oil | 1 teaspoon |
Salt | 1/2 teaspoon |
Whole Wheat Flour/Atta | 1 cup |
Yogurt | 1 1/4 cup |
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes for half cooking the dough and around 20 min to cook the pizza.
Serves: makes around two, 10 inch thin crush pizza bases
How to make it:
- Mix the whole wheat flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and dry Italian herbs in a mixing bowl. Mix well with your hands.
- Add a little yogurt at a time and begin to knead the dough. Do not add all the yogurt at once, as the amount needed may vary based on the flour used or the water content of the yogurt.
- Knead until you get a soft dough.
- Form the dough into a ball, apply oil on top and let it rest for 15 min.
- Once ready to make the pizza, divide the dough into two equal parts.
- Knead again for another 5 minutes.
- Dust the surface with some flour. Roll the dough out until about 3/4 inch thick.
- Place the dough on a greased pizza stone or cast iron pan. I highly recommend using something with a thick bottom so that the dough cooks evenly.
- Place some indentations using a fork throughout the dough to prevent it from puffing.
- Brush the dough with oil.
- Bake in an over preheated at 470 degree F for 5 minutes.
- Take it out, add sauce of your choice, topping and cheese and bake it again for 15-20 minutes.
- This recipe works best for thin crust pizzas.
