I can proudly say that I do not have a sweet tooth! Sugary foods make me sick to my stomach. Yet, I love to bake for all the sugar loving friends and family of mine. But once in a while if I do crave something sweet, I like to make something quick, healthy and seasonal. If that doesn’t give you hint… it has to be a fruit! It is summer and mangoes are in plenty! Chia seeds and yogurt are perfect coolers which provide respite from the heat. I got the inspiration for this recipe from Mayur’s cousin, Sneha. She recently shared a pic of a chia seed and mango drink she made and I thought that this would be a great recipe for the blog! So here is my take on our bubbly and colorful Sneha’s recipe 🙂
What you will need:
Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
Cardamom Powder | 1/4 teaspoon |
Chia Seeds | 10 grams (presoaking) |
Date Syrup/Honey/Maple Syrup/Agave | 2 teaspoons |
Mango | 1/4 cup into small pieces |
Yogurt | 1/4 cup |
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Arranging Time: 5 minutes
Serving: Makes around 4 shooters
How to make it:
- Soak the chia seeds in water until they puff up. It should not take more than 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, hand beat the yogurt and cardamom together to form a smooth creamy yogurt mixture.
- Cut 1/4 of a ripe mango into very small pieces. Discard the skin and just use the flesh.
- Have all the above ingredients close by, along with the sweetening agent of your choice. I used date syrup for this recipe.
- Now begin layering each ingredient in a tall shot glass as shown in the picture above. Tip: Divide each ingredient into 4 parts so that they are evenly distributed among the four shot glasses during layering.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
- While eating, make sure to stir all the layers together so that the sweetener is mixed well with the yogurt.
- Enjoy a guilt free dessert!
