Apple Pie Filling

Apple pie filling

No dessert is more American than the good ole apple pie. Believe it or not, I do not have a sweet tooth. However, apple pie is one of my favorite desserts. Apple pie filling is easy to make. It can be used as a filling for tarts, crescent rolls, or cakes. The most traditional use of the filling is in a crisp or cobbler, besides in a pie of course. Here is my simple recipe for this favorite dessert of mine. The soft, mushy apples covered in cinnamon, the tangy, sticky filling is just so satisfying! Top it with a scoop of ice cream and you are in heaven! There were times when I would not cut a cake for my birthday but in fact, would cut an apple pie. That is how much I love this dessert.

What you will need:

IngredientsQuantity
Cinnamon Powder1 tablespoon
Flour1 teaspoon
Granny Smith Apples350 grams
Lemon Juice50 ml
Sugar50 grams
Water50 ml
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Serving: Makes around 1 cup filling

How to make it:

  • Peel the apples and discard the skin.
  • Dice the apples into small pieces.
  • Add the apples to a saucepan along with the cinnamon powder, lemon juice, water, and sugar.
  • Let it simmer on a low flame until the apples soften.
  • Add the flour and give the mixture a good mix. It will begin to thicken up.
  • Your filling is ready. Use it in tarts, on pies, for cakes, cobblers, or eat as is with a scoop of ice cream! 🙂
