Kiwi Sorbet

kiwi sorbet

Summer is here and with the rising temperatures, everyone craves something cold! Ice creams are always a summer favorite among all age groups. But with icecreams come the big calories too! What if you could still enjoy ice cream without the extra fat, sugar, and dairy? You can!!! Home-made sorbets are a great way to enjoy those hot summer days, guilt-free! Kiwis are a great source of Vitamin C. I had a bunch of kiwis which ripened all at once. Since Mayur does not eat fruits, I decided to make a sorbet out of them. It turned out to be a refreshing treat!!

What you will need:

IngredientsQuantity
Ripe Kiwis1 lb
Mintfor garnish

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Freeze time: 3 hours
Servings: Makes 1 lb sorbet

How to make it:

  • Tip: Ensure that the kiwis are very ripe and sweet!
  • Wash the kiwis well. Peel the kiwis and cut them into cubes.
  • Freeze these cubes for about an hour or so. They should not be completely frozen but halfway there.
  • Add these cubes to a food processor and blend it till it is smooth. You can add flavors like juice of a lemon or black salt at this stage and give it one last mix. I like my sorbet plain.
  • Transfer into a freezer-safe bowl with a lid and freeze it for at least 2 hours before serving. If storing in the fridge for a while, defrost the sorbet in the refrigerator for about 45 minutes to an hour before serving.
  • Garnish with mint for extra freshness. You can use this sorbet for cocktails as well. Enjoy!
