Chena Poda is a baked cheese dessert. This dessert is from Odisha. I first had it at one of our Odiya friends’ place. This dessert was apparently invented by accident when sweetened cheese was left in the oven by mistake. The results are now a favorite among not just Odiya people but anyone who has tried this dessert. Here is my humble attempt to replicate this recipe.
What you will need:
Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
Cardamom | 1/2 teaspoon |
Ghee | 1/2 teaspoon |
Jaggery | 1/2 cup |
Paneer | 250 grams |
Semolina | 1 tablespoon |
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Bake Time: 45 minutes
Serving: 6
How to make it:
- You will require fresh paneer. Check out our paneer recipe to make fresh paneer at home.
- Grease a baking pan with the ghee and preheat the oven at 350 degrees F.
- In a mixing bowl, add the fresh paneer, jaggery, semolina, and cardamom powder. You can also use the same amount of sugar. I personally like the taste of jaggery.
- Mix everything well and pour into the greased bowl.
- Bake for 30-45 minutes or until the top begins to brown.
- You can serve this warm or chilled.
